Hiring with AI doesn't have to be so inhumane
Our research at micro1, conducted with Stanford researchers, demonstrates that conversational AI fundamentally changes what "humane" hiring looks like at massive scale. When companies receive millions of applications—as Google, McKinsey, and Goldman Sachs routinely do—human assessment becomes impossible, and truly qualified candidates get lost in the noise. The breakthrough is shifting from static résumé screening to dynamic, real-time skills evaluation through conversational AI that engages candidates directly. This approach not only doubled success rates in subsequent human interviews but also provided candidates with a transparent, interactive experience rather than submitting applications into a black-box system. The conclusion is that AI doesn't dehumanize recruitment when designed thoughtfully—it makes humane evaluation possible at scale, with 87% cost reductions while particularly benefiting younger candidates and career switchers who lack traditional credentials but possess genuine competencies.
