World-class talent loves micro1

The community of micro1 is an incredible opportunity for people like me to work in the real world with real problems and really to get in this hybrid perfect combination between what is my academic upbringing and the experience on the ground with a large language model and with an incredibly dynamic company like micro1

I've been working with micro1 for four months. I'm a college professor in Business Administration and have taught at a number of top universities in my career of more than 25 years. I was contacted by micro1 back in January when they were looking for Business and Finance experts for a project that involves working as an AI trainer. I took the AI interview but didn't do my onboarding until May, after the spring semester was completed. I work with a team of about 2 dozen other experts in business and finance--plus several members of micro1's core team, including the many of the most senior members of the organization.

There are many things I like about working on this team and I'll mention two: First is the collegiality. Everyone is extremely professional and helpful. Whenever I have questions, they get answered quickly. I feel like everyone is trying to help me. There's no competition between experts on the team and the managers encourage us to learn from each other. And that ties into the second thing I like: there are so many smart people on the team that I learn a lot from them. We all have our areas of expertise and work mostly alone but our work product is viewable by other team members. I've gotten a lot better with my understanding of AI and prompting LLMs in the last 4 months and my co-workers on the project are a big part of that.

I wanted to share my personal experience working for micro1. It's been an incredibly rewarding journey, and I wanted to share my perspective for anyone interested in this field.

The interview process was surprisingly smooth, starting with an AI-based interview, followed by a chat with HR, and a final discussion with a specialist. I started back in July 2024, joining a team on a Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback (RLHF) project. Our goal was to train a large language model, and as a team, we performed incredibly well.

A big turning point came in March 2025, when I got to be part of a pilot for a new video data annotation project. Our team won the pilot, and we have been focused on training the model ever since. The growth has been amazing. I was recently promoted too.

One of the things I truly appreciate is the company's reliability. Payments are always on time, issued bi-monthly, and there are great bonuses for good performance.

I really enjoyed the experience. I was initially nervous about whether an AI could accurately understand my voice and answers, but Zara nailed it. The way she confirmed and reflected on what I meant was impressive. I’d love to see more interviews like this in the future.

I had a great time interviewing with the AI. I felt much less stress and anxiety since there was no pressure from human interviewers. It was easier to share my thoughts without feeling shy. I applied through micro1 and was followed by an AI interview. I took the interview seriously and professionally. The kickoff questions were based on the information I provided in my CV, and then the AI started generating follow-up questions based on my answers. I noticed that the questions became progressively deeper, as if the AI was verifying my responses in a smart way — something none of my previous interviews had done.

It was a great experience, and I felt it was much better than a typical interview with HR staff who may not have expertise in my field. Later, I had another interview with a project manager, who eventually hired me.

Since July 2025, I've worked for micro1 as an AI Expert and Reviewer on an confidential project, and it has been and continues to be such a phenomenal experience. Due to the nature of the project, no one was exactly sure how to approach the work at first, but through trail and error, feedback, and excellent back-and-forth communication, we all came together to work out the best approach.

Remote work can certainly have its challenges, but I truly feel part of a team with micro1. I now work with people all around the world, and we message and talk and work together in such a communal way. It's truly a joy to login everyday, always feeling welcomed and supported.

This was my first AI interview and it was truly a surprise. I never imagined that an interaction between a machine and a human could be so seamless. It was a great experience indeed!

This was my first time doing an online interview like this, and the experience was great. The questions were clear and well-structured, and I was able to answer them precisely. The flow felt natural, all the questions were relevant, and the pacing was just right. It was clear that my responses were being heard. I had enough time to answer without any interruptions or confusion. Overall, it was a smooth and thoughtful experience.

So, I’ve been working on this audio annotation project for the past little while and honestly… it was way more interesting than I expected. I get paid to listen to hours of people talking, but instead of zoning out, I have to catch every tiny detail from accents to background noise and weird mic setups. Sometimes I end up just replaying that one second clip a few times, but as detail-oriented (and occasionally monotonous) as it can feel, I love this project and everyone I work with.

The team has been great. Everyone is super detail-oriented and kinda nerdy (in a good way) but also encouraging and funny when things get tough. I actually looked forward to feedback because I've learned a lot and now I find myself annotating people in real life, twitching a little every time I hear a mouth breather or intense vocal fry a la the Kardashians.

My ears might be a little fried, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
