A Technological Tipping Point

Some of you may recall the dreaded words, "Get off the internet, I need to make a phone call!" knowing it meant we'd once again endure the cacophony of dial-up sounds, signaling our connection had been re-established. Fast forward to the widespread implementation of broadband, which enabled us to gleefully use the landline and the internet at the same time. In later years came a personal favorite: the surreal thrill of watching a blue dot move across Apple Maps in real-time, finally freeing me from clutching printed MapQuest pages (and hoping we didn't miss our exit…again). My generation occupies a unique vantage point: old enough to remember life without these technologies, young enough to have grown up as they transformed our day-to-day. This current moment of AI growth resembles that initial “magic” of utilizing new technologies, but at a monumentally larger scale.

I am acutely aware of witnessing something larger than a new gadget or a faster connection. We are on the brink of a technological tipping point—a fundamental and irreversible shift in the way we interact with the world, as human intelligence across disciplines systematically converges. And it’s imperative that we get both the process and the result of this convergence right.

(It's not without its downsides, though—a brief moment of silence for us natural and frequent users of em-dashes, pre-ChatGPT.)

To date, I’ve been lucky enough to learn from industry titans within financial services; it's through these career experiences that I’ve realized how valuable—and rare—accurate training scenarios in finance are for AI models. So much of our operating context and knowledge as finance professionals is developed through an apprenticeship format, making the gap in human-provided training data ever more significant.

As we hit this generational pivot and witness the widespread use of AI across disciplines, such as finance, law, and medicine, the engine that fuels it is, and I’d argue always will be, human. While some platforms today discuss AI as a replacement for human judgment, at micro1, we view human intelligence as the ultimate conduit.

Why micro1?

A model is only as good as the data it’s fed—and the highest-quality data doesn't come from scraping the open web, it comes from an orchestra of human expertise. Whether it’s training a model to understand the implications of a nuanced transaction or fine-tuning an agentic workflow for a global investment bank, the "magic" happens when the gap between frontier AI models and leading global domain experts is bridged.

What sets micro1 apart:

  • The Human Data Engine: Unlike traditional staffing or generic vetting platforms, micro1 is building specialized infrastructure to turn human brilliance into high-fidelity training sets. We don’t just “hire”—we are intentionally sourcing architects of the next intelligence layer.
  • Vetting at Scale: We use our own AI recruiter, Zara, to move with the speed the market now demands—conducting thousands of deep, technical, and behavioral interviews to surface the "hidden gems" that traditional resumes (and human fatigue) can miss.
  • Domain Accuracy: In fields like finance, law, and medicine, "close enough" isn't good enough. micro1 focuses on identifying experts who can provide as close to objective, foundational truths as possible—the precise, expert-level reasoning that allows AI to move from a "chatbot" to a reliable professional partner (not a replacement).

Having grown up alongside the meteoric adoption of technologies in our everyday lives, I joined micro1 to step off the sidelines and play a role in this monumental shift. In partnership with a phenomenal team, I look forward to working with the rapidly growing community of domain experts who are similarly shaping the future.
