Why I joined micro1

When people ask me why I became a lawyer, I tell them it's because I love problem solving. I love answering questions.

In 2024, when I was a business affairs attorney at a major Hollywood studio, I attended a presentation about AI content, given by a team representing one of the top available video generation tools on the market, and I was absolutely floored by what I saw. After spending most of my career in the entertainment industry, with a detour to obtain my law degree at UCLA and to work as an M&A attorney at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in Los Angeles, I had for years been wondering how every year, billions of dollars were poured into content that struggled to turn a profit. I wondered - why is it so hard to make the economics of this industry work? Why has nobody figured this out, almost a century and a half after the Lumière brothers debuted the first commercial film in a café in Paris? That day in 2024, someone was finally showing me a way to create content cheaply, efficiently and incredibly quickly.

It felt like the answer to a question. And it made me wonder — if AI can solve one of the most baffling problems in modern society, what questions can it not answer? I started to think bigger than just content creation. If it could help us create content, it might also help us review that content for legal risks, draft contracts, license materials — and even negotiate, empowering lawyers to make creative, revolutionary deals instead of having the same argument over indemnification or termination for cause over and over again. But why stop at entertainment law? Why not answer these questions for a whole generation of legal professionals, empowering us to do the problem solving and dealmaking that we love, and cutting down on the things that consume our time? I decided I was not going to wait for someone else to tackle these questions. If this technology was going to revolutionize the legal field, I needed to be a part of that revolution.

That is why I am thrilled to be joining micro1 as a Strategic Project Lead. When I first partnered with this company as a legal data expert, I learned that this world-class team was not just seeking the same answers I was — they were having a real, measurable impact on those answers. And they were doing so responsibly, empowering lawyers from across the globe to shape a new generation of legal tools like nothing we have ever seen before.

At micro1, the goal is not to replace lawyers. The goal is to empower great lawyers to do amazing things. This is a team that has proven time and time again that they care deeply about the human quest for knowledge.
